SUMMARY
“The savage state is a performance created after many conversations with my grandmother. She is, as well, an actress of the piece. By means of images on super 8 recorded by my grandfather since the fifties and up to the eighties, we will rewrite the history of my family and, at the same time, the history of Spain from the Civil War to our days. It is the testimony of a woman who has remained silent for a long time and who has a great wish to talk, a lot to clear up, a lot to repair. It is, above all, an act of splendid and extreme love, an attack of romanticism before burning all the bridges. In a letter addressed to her granddaughters, my grandmother weaves her biography and questions all her past, her present and her future, in an act of brutal honesty which brings light onto what it means to be alive today”.

O estado salvaxe. Espanha 1939 was created between Galicia, Portugal and Argentina. Produced by MARCO, Museum of Contemporary Art of Vigo, coproduced by Centro Párraga (Murcia) and Festival Temps d’Images (Lisbon). With the support of the Foundation START-Centre of Artistic Research in Buenos Aires, Festival Bad-Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, Culture Centre Vilaflor (Guimarães), O espaço do tempo (Montemor-o-novo), and Zé dos bois (Lisbon).

SUMMARY
An explorer (Sergi López ), after following, observing and localizing the most valuable specimens on the planet (the pigmee elephant from India, o antelope with three horns, the panther from the snow in the Himalaya, the Charles Bronson white bison…) finds himself looking for the, so the chronicles say, animal out of all the animals (Jorge Picó ), invisible up to this moment to the human eye. In the pictures there are traces of a winged being, a mammal of which not much is known; some ancient manuscripts refer to it as “the one which has a soul”… He spent so long looking for it that his life became an obsession; just like Captain Ahab hunted Moby Dick, our hero hunts, constantly and methodically, an idea, an Eldorado, a dream… What he doesn’t know is that the encounter with this animal will change his life and nothing will ever be as it was before… Above all on the day when John McEnroe came across their lives…

The sand, the card table, the magic circle, the temple, the sage, the screen, the tennis court, the court of justice are all, in their shape and their function, game areas, that is: banned places, isolated, fenced, consecrated, where special rules must be followed. All of them are temporary worlds in an ordinary world, dedicated to acting out an act apart. (Johan Huizinga, Homo Ludens).

THE COMPANY
Sergi López and Jorge Picó met in Paris while studying at the school of master Jacques Lecoq, in 1990. these parallel lines cross each other again on stage, realizing their teacher’s dream: that his pupils World reinvent reality in a lively theatre of creation, popular and tied to the mystery of life. Sergi López and Jorge Picó launched in 2005 one of the major successes in catalonian theatre: the humourous monologue Non solum. In 2011 they restarted the creating machina and launched, in the Festival Temporada Alta 2011, 30/40, Livingstone, a creation, direction and, on this occasion, acting, altogether.
